Char Easter of the Seattle Examiner recently took time to interview director Bjorn Anderson about the making of Eyes in the Dark. The article is in a question-answer type style, which gives Bjorn the chance to answer a lot of frequently asked questions about the film. To read the entire article, go here.

Director, Bjorn Anderson, will be speaking at the Crypticon horror convention on the Northwest Filmmakers Forum on Saturday, June 19th from 4-6 pm. The panel will discuss making horror movies and filming in the Northwest.

We just received word that Eyes in the Dark is an official selection for the Fright Night Film Fest in Louisville, KY at the end of July. We’re told it’s one of the largest horror conventions east of the Rockies. We don’t know the exact screening time yet, but stay tuned because we’ll post it here as soon as we find out.

Horror news sites HorrorSociety.com and Buried.com posted an article about our STIFF screening. We were also mentioned in the Federal Way Mirror regarding local resident and actress from Eyes in the Dark, Maureen Francisco.

The schedule for STIFF has been announced. Eyes in the Dark will be showing at the Rendezvous on Sat. June 5th at 7:45pm. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door.

We have news articles announcing our STIFF screening in the Issaquah Reporter, Mercer Island Reporter, and the Skagit Valley Herald.

April 2010

Eyes in the Dark got the attention of some horror movie fan sites for it’s world premiere. Buried.com and it’s sister website FirstFright.com posted the story which can also be seen at Dr. Goreman’s Nightmare Emporium.

We just received word that Eyes in the Dark is an official selection in not just one, but two film festivals. The Alabama International Film Festival is the first to accept Eyes and will show it April 25th. Also, Seattle’s True Independent Film Festival or STIFF, will also be showing Eyes in the Dark June 5th. STIFF is the local festival where Warrior’s End premiered last year.

In other news, we just finished filming a music video with S.Y.F.T. for their song “Away” which was used in the closing credits of Eyes in the Dark. It will be a promotional video featuring some footage from the movie, and we have some awesome performance footage of the band. More details to come after we start the editing process.

We’re on a role! Two new blogs about Eyes in the Dark and more on the way. The first is the horror movie blog Dread Central. It’s an eloquent little speculation about the origin of those mysterious red eyes on the poster. And the second blog, from Geek Tyrant, calls Eyes in the Dark “creepy” and “cool.” They even featured Eyes on their main page next to their Oscar blog — we like that!

Eyes in the Dark editor Robyn Scaringi, and her husband and fellow Eyes producer, Marco Scaringi, were interviewed by KUOW’s Amy Radil about Eyes in the Dark, and how the recession can give people more time to spend working on creative projects. Robyn and Marco both used to work in the mortgage industry, and the story draws some not-so-subtle connections between your typical horror movie and the horrors of the mortgage industry. The story includes audio clips from the movie. To listen to the story or read the transcript, go here.

February 2010

Once again, Eyes in the Dark has gotten some media attention, this time from The Issaquah Press. This article features interviews from director Bjorn Anderson, editor Robyn Scaringi, and actress/marketing coordinator Maureen Francisco. The article is mostly about Bjorn’s process as a filmmaker, but it also has some info about how Eyes is doing in the post-production world. Read the entire article here.

Another nod from the blogosphere, the weird fiction & film blog Undead Backbrain has given Eyes in the Dark some special recognition. Writer Robert Hood seems enthusiastic about the film’s potential, and he makes good use of the newly updated press kit we’re starting to send out. The website itself has a very creepy feel to it, definitely worth checking out. To read the entire blog posting, go here.

December 2009

The Mercer Island Reporter published an article about Eyes in the Dark for the November ‘09 RendezVous screening. The article has some interesting info about why our resident director/producer Bjorn Anderson decided to make movies in the first place. On behalf of the entire crew at Emerald City Pictures, the MI Reporter picture does not do Bjorn justice.

November 2009

In early November of 2009, Emerald City Pictures screened a nearly completed version of Eyes in the Dark at the RendezVous in downtown Seattle for many of the cast & crew and a handful of media professionals. The movie was well received by the audience. Among the audience members was Jeff Walls, a movie critic for the Seattle PI Blog. He gave the film a great review saying that he “enjoyed the film” and it “was edited together really well.” To read the entire article, go here.
